An elderly man, who sustained a fracture while pruning trees, may have laid for days at his home before he was found.

The man, a farmer in Te Aroha, fell while pruning trees and sustained a fracture. He was able to get himself to his house but was unable to call for help.

He was airlifted to the Waikato Hospital Emergency Department by chopper yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile on Saturday, a child was airlifted to hospital after being kicked in the head by a horse.

The incident occurred at a horsing hunting event west of Huntly and left the child with head injuries.

The patient was transported by The Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the Waikato Hospital Emergency Department where he was assessed and then taken to Auckland Starship hospital.
