Emergency services have been called to Matua after two major landslips at the back of private properties.
Police and fire crew rushed to Rewarewa Pl after they were advised about the slips about 1.30pm today.
A spokesman for Tauranga Fire Brigade said the slips were at the back of residential properties, which sat on the top of a cliff. He said the slips were about 10-15m away from the houses.
He said residents were aware of the slips, which may have happened a day ago.
Four properties were affected by the slip, which is about 20m high and about 40m wide, has taken down some small trees. City council staff are at the scene assessing the scene.
