Police are investigating the death of a 46-year-old Dunedin man who had been in a bar fight less than two hours before he died.
Ambulance and police were called to the man's Lonsdale St address at 10.40pm on Friday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
At 9pm the same man had been seen in a fight in a central Dunedin bar.
Police were called to the fight by witnesses but it had dispersed by the time they got there.
There was no CCTV footage of the incident.
A specialist coroner is conducting a post-mortem examination today to determine the cause of death.
Police are interviewing witnesses from the bar to piece together the man's night leading up to his death.
They would not confirm the cause of his death, and said it was not necessarily linked to the fight.
