Three people have been arrested after a P lab was found in the Christchurch suburb of Casebrook - next to a children's playground.
Two Christchurch men, aged 40 and 47, and a 20-year-old Christchurch woman will appear in the Rangiora District Court this afternoon facing charges of possessing equipment and materials for manufacturing methamphetamine.
Disturbingly, the clandestine laboratory was found this morning in a house next door to a children's playground, Detective Sergeant Dorothy McPhail said.
"Not only were those in the house where the lab was found at high risk, as well as neighbouring homes, but the children from the neighbourhood using the playground were also potentially at risk should there have been an explosion," she said.
"Anyone who has any information about people manufacturing drugs should contact police at the earliest opportunity."
