A member of the public has been injured in a collision in west Auckland after the driver of stolen car tried to evade police.
The accident happened just before 12.30pm on Triangle Rd, in Massey. Police northern communications spokesman Inspector Peter Raynes told nzherald.co.nz officers had been looking for the occupants of the car all morning.
Police allege the driver of the car saw police, "got spooked'' and then collided with a member of the public.
He said it wasn't a fleeing driver, or "pursuit'' situation.
That person has been taken to Waitakere Hospital with minor to moderate injuries and the two occupants of the stolen car have been arrested.
Diversions are in place at Triangle Rd while serious crash investigators examine the scene.
