Police have named the man who was killed when his car crashed through a barrier near Palmerston North on Sunday.
Palmerston North student Nicholas Michael Green, 24, died in the single-vehicle crash on State Highway 57 at Kahuterawa, near Linton, about 2.30am.
Early indications were that speed was a factor, police said.
The crash was one of three fatal single-vehicle crashes at the weekend.
Hayden Craig Penman, 32, died after his car left the road and smashed into a tree near Murchison on Sunday, while Francis Joseph (Harry) O'Boyle, 70, died in hospital early Saturday after crashing on the Hororata-Dunsandel Road, west of Christchurch, on Friday night.

Warbirds over Wanaka
Hundreds of aviation enthusiasts turned out to see some impressive aircraft in action yesterday at a preview of the Warbirds over Wanaka show this weekend. The popular event had been grounded for the past six years, partly because of Covid pandemic restrictions. This Easter weekend it returns, with a sellout crowd of more than 60,000 people set to attend today and tomorrow. Photos / George Heard
