Prime Minister Helen Clark celebrated her 52nd birthday yesterday, content in the knowledge that her popularity and that of the Labour Party continues to grow.
A TV3/NFO CM Research poll showed 54 per cent of voters supporting Labour, up from 51 per cent, and National unchanged on 30 per cent.
The Alliance Party and New Zealand First were each down 0.4 points to 2.5 per cent and 2.2 per cent respectively, and the Greens were down 2 to 6 per cent. Act rose 0.6 to 3 per cent.
Helen Clark remains favourite in the preferred prime minister stakes, support for her increasing 2 points to 41 per cent. National leader Bill English is down 2 points to 10 per cent.
NZ First leader Winston Peters was third with 5 per cent. Alliance leader Jim Anderton dropped one point to 3 per cent.
The poll of 1000 voters, taken last week, had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 per cent.
