New TB guidelines

New guidelines have been released on the best ways to treat someone who has been exposed to or diagnosed with tuberculosis.

Greenlane Hospital TB specialist and chest physician, and editor of the guidelines, Adrian Harrison, said new strains of the disease were threatening control measures around the world.

There was a need to impress on patients the importance of taking the full course of medication, which could take up to two years.
