New Lynn crash victims identified

Police have released the names of three people killed in a car crash in west Auckland on Wednesday night.

A woman and two young brothers died when the off-duty taxi they were travelling in smashed into a power pole in the suburb of New Lynn at about nine o'clock.

The woman was 53-year-old Indu Chandra. The children were nine-year-old Shamel Jan and four-year-old Shanal Jan.

The driver of the car and two other passengers are in hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
