Pupils at South Featherston School have a new astroturf court to play on.
School principal Margie Sutherland said the $33,000 court was laid over three days during last week, before pupils got the opportunity to play on it for the first time on Friday.
All 68 children at the school
had been fascinated by the process of the turf being laid, she said. The new facility replaced a concrete-based tarseal tennis court that was in bad repair.
The new turf was paid for through the proceeds of the sale of the former school house, Ms Sutherland said.
"We wanted to put the money into something big and sustainable," she said.
