Man on the run after removing electronic monitoring bracelet

A man who removed his electronic monitoring bracelet and left his home detention address is being sought by police.

Sakaio McBeth removed the bracelet and left the Porirua home on Monday.

The 35-year-old currently had a warrant to arrest for a family violence matter and for breaching his home detention conditions, police said.

McBeth was described as being of Pacific Island decent, about 184 centimetres in height and of medium build.

It comes after a string of offenders allegedly removed their electronic bracelets this year.

Violent offender Casey Cowan went on the run after removing his electronically monitored anklet in Avondale in August.

Police also had to track down convicted child sex offender David Livingstone in August after he allegedly removed his bracelet to escape his Wellington abode. He was arrested two days later in Hutt Valley.

Last year Tony Robertson murdered and raped North Shore woman Blessie Gotingco while on monitored release for child sex offending.

The public has been was advised not to approach McBeth, but to call 111 immediately if they see him.
