Champion Makybe Diva is the firm favourite for tomorrow's Melbourne Cup after drawing barrier 14 for the $5 million race.
Vinnie Roe, who was runner-up to the mare last year, has drawn barrier 24.
However, neither horse is guaranteed to start with Melbourne's weather dictating plans, and if the track is too
hard both are likely to be withdrawn.
Bookmaker Michael Eskander had Makybe Diva as $3.50 favourite after the barrier draw while Vinnie Roe was out to $13.
The 24-horse field was decided after Saturday's racing at Flemington with Confectioner missing out on a start.
He was balloted out after 25 horses were declared.
Leica Falcon, the second favourite at $5, came up with barrier 20, while Xcellent drew barrier 17.
Paul Moroney said that draw was perfect for the New Zealand champion who is currently at $21.
English horse Franklins Garden is still not certain to run as he is being treated for an injury to his hind leg.
