Lotto players are being warned to take a second look at the website address before buying tickets online.
The organisation emailed players last night reminding them to only use the official website to buy tickets and to check results online.
"We recommend that you do not provide any account informationor personal information to sites with any alternative URLs," the email said.
Players can confirm they are on the official website by checking the URL address is https://mylotto.co.nz.
Either the text in the address bar, or the bar itself, should be green, should say "New Zealand Lotteries Commission", and should have a padlock icon next to it.
"It's always safest to either type in the URL yourself or use a bookmark you've created, rather than clicking links in an email that is not from MyLotto," the email said.
"If you think you may have entered your details into an imitation website, we recommend you change your password on MyLotto and on any other websites where you use the same password."
