A pair of women looking for love are using spare Super Rugby final tickets to snag themselves a blind date.
Hurricanes fans Suzie Carrig and her friend, both in their mid-30s, got four tickets for Saturday's match in Wellington and planned a double-date.
"We got these four tickets so firstly my friend could go with this guy she has admired for a while and secondly so I could be set up with his work mate," says Ms Carrig.
However, their plans hit a roadblock when the guys they planned to go with were called to Christchurch for work.
Miss Carrig says they joked about how the situation was perfect for a blind date and the next thing she knew she was posting the tickets on Trade Me.
They're for aisle 7 "right up close to the action".
"There is a lot of interest and it's just coming in constantly," Ms Carrig says. "It just adds a little bit of extra excitement to the game, not knowing who you will end up sitting next to."
Earlier this week some people were abused for trying to sell tickets online for profit. Miss Carrig says she didn't set out to make money but to have a really good night at a game the "Hurricanes would win".
While the hope is to meet a couple of single guys, they're just as happy to go with similarly avid rugby fans.
"As much as we would like a couple of really nice professional, Hurricane-supporting single guys to enjoy the night with us, the most important thing is the winner of this auction is fun and doesn't mind us yelling swearing and drinking, cause we will be sitting right next to you."
Trade Me user arohanui93 wished the girls luck.
"I have shared this for you in hope to find some die hard lovely looking gentlemen for ya. I hope it works out and you ladies will have a great time."
Shazz 44 was also positive.
"So, those two blokes have turned down two gorgeous girls and impossible to get match tickets ... Set your sights higher girls, you can do better than that. Have a great night - pretty sure you will."
Not all those interested in the tickets are after romance - bellaboom1 wanted the tickets for him and his wife.
"Haha sorry ladies I'm looking to watch the game with my lovely wife, but I do swear and drink hahaha. I'll be gunning for these."
So far there have been 20 bids for the tickets, the latest for $230.
The auction is due to finish about 8pm tonight.
Tiarne Cunliffe, one of the more frequent bidders on the ticket auction, says she's in for a good night - without the romance.
"It would also be a night out for me and my girlfriend who I rarely get the chance to see and we are both looking forward to this game.
"We are fun girls who know how to have a good night, no matter what we are doing or where we are."
