People who are booked on today's ferry across Cook Strait will have to wait until tomorrow.
KiwiRail has cancelled the 2:30 Interislander sailing for passengers this afternoon due to predicted six to seven metre swells.
The company says passengers have been advised and will be probably be booked on a sailing tomorrow.
A spokesman says a call will be made later today on whether freight can be sent across the strait.
