Road closures
The Northern Motorway northbound from the Nelson St offramp to the Fanshawe St onramp will be closed every night this week between 9.30pm and 5.30am for repairs.
* The Wellington St onramp northbound to the Northern Motorway will also be closed every night this week from
9pm to 5.30am for road resurfacing.
* The Tristram St onramp northbound to the Northern Motorway will be closed from 10pm until 5am tomorrow.
Detours will be indicated in all cases.
Scooters recalled
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is recalling its Voyager, Columbus and Traveller three-wheeled and four-wheeled mobility scooters. Models affected are Travellers with serial numbers that begin 99 and have the last four digits in the range 0106-1228, Travellers with serial numbers that begin 00 and have the last four digits in the range 0000-0317, and Columbus/Voyagers with serial numbers that begin 98 and have the last four digits in the range 0202-0458.
The serial number can be found on a label under the seat. The reason for the recall is a possible fault in the drive mechanism, which may cause a loss of driving and braking control.

Art awards
Waitakere City secondary school students who wish to enter the 2002 Waitakere Licensing Trust Art Awards have the opportunity to work on their entries during a series of free classes starting on May 9. The tutor is Pamela White, professional artist and art teacher, and the classes run on Thursdays from 4.30pm to 6.30pm until June 27 at the Big Top Recreation Centre in Alderman Drive, Henderson. Concert off
Under the Influence, the last in a series of three concerts by New Zealand bands which was to have been held at the St James on Sunday, June 2, has been cancelled. The other two concerts, on the Friday and Saturday nights of Queen's Birthday Weekend, will go ahead.
Cyclists show their skills
Come and watch the Olympic cyclists of the future participate in the Intermediate Schools Interzone Cycling Championships today. The first race gets off at 10am, and the course begins at Pt England Rd and follows a route via Riverside Ave, Dunkirk Rd and Matapan Rd to finish at Riki St. The time-trial route is Kawiti Ave, Pt England Rd, Anderson Rd, Riverside Ave, Pt England Rd again and finishes at Kawiti Ave. Call 520-0216 for details.
