Grafton Gully road changes
There are more changes in the Grafton Gully area for motorists to be aware of. The left-turning lane from Stanley St into Beach Rd has been reopened so you will no longer be diverted through Churchill St. However, traffic from Alten Rd to Beach Rd will continue to be diverted through Churchill St. Further information on the Grafton Gully Project is available from the information office on the corner of Stanley St and Alten Rd or by phoning 0800 TOFREEFLOW (0800 863 733).
Road closed for function
Huntly Ave in Grafton will be closed from 6pm to 9.30pm today for a private function.
Lower speed on highway
A maximum speed limit of 80km/h comes into effect today on the stretch of State Highway 1 from Hatfields Beach to just south of the Puhoi turnoff. Transit New Zealand describes this section of road as mountainous, with many sharp corners, and with a particularly high crash record. The lower limit will be tried for two years.
Cornwall Park tree walk

Library revamp
Tauranga library will be closed from tomorrow until Friday while the revamp is completed. You'll be able to inspect the new layout on Saturday, when the library reopens at its normal time. For more information phone the library and information services manager on (07) 577-7000.

Fun for preschoolers
North Shore's Families in Parks organisers will be outside the library in the Northcote Town Centre at 10.30am today with fun and games for the preschoolers. Tomorrow's event will be held at 10.30am outside the Birkenhead library in the Nell Fisher Reserve.
Physics of big and small
Microcosm and Macrocosm, the physics of the very small and the very large, is the topic of a public lecture today, presented by Dr John Ellis of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research in Geneva. The talk starts at 7pm in lecture theatre MLT1 in the University of Auckland's maths and physics building on the corner of Wellesley and Princes Sts. Everyone is welcome.
Train to give citizens advice
You can give something back to your community and develop new skills for yourself by becoming a Citizens Advice Bureau volunteer. You don't need any previous experience as CAB gives basic training at first, followed by updates as new information and resources come to hand. The next training course begins on March 4 and lasts six weeks.
