Another day
It's a posthumous happy birthday to bluegrass singing star and guitarist Lester Flatt, who, with banjo player Earl Scruggs, formed the Foggy Mountain Boys, the inspiration behind the Soggy Bottom Boys of Oh Brother Where Art Thou movie fame. The pair wrote TV's Beverly Hillbillies theme, The Ballad of Jed Clampett, which was the first bluegrass song to top the US charts. Flatt didn't sing the TV version of the song: the producers thought he sounded too hillbilly.
