About 9pm on Monday, March 10, a man walked in to the Hollywood Dairy at 638 Dominion Rd, Balmoral, and asked for cigarettes plus cash from the Eftpos machine. The man then drew a pistol and demanded money from the till. When the shopkeeper refused, he was shot with a
slug gun, raising welts on his skin. A second shopkeeper was threatened and another shot was fired before the assailant left empty-handed.
He is described as Caucasian, of medium to solid build, 1.7m (5ft 7in) and cleanshaven, with an oval face. He wore a black-hooded fleece top and cream trousers. The black pistol was single-barrelled, about 15cm (6in) long. Any information about the identity of this man should be given to Detective Carl McLennan of Avondale CIB on (09) 820-5719.
