The four men accused of bursting into a Masterton house while armed on September 2 and robbing the householders of money and alcohol have appeared in Masterton District Court on counts of aggravated robbery.
Ra Tanirau, 29, Damian Matthews, 27, Tyrone Tiori, 23, and Levi Edmonds, 19, all of Masterton, were
each charged with robbing a man in his Worksop Rd home, using weapons - a shotgun, slug gun and hammer.
Prosecutors claim they stole a wallet, $40 cash, assorted plastic cards and six cans of bourbon.
None of the four entered a plea, and all but Edmonds were remanded in custody by consent until September 30 at 2.15pm.
Edmonds, represented by Jock Blathwayt, was granted bail with a 24-hour curfew unless he was in the company of his father.
He was also forbidden to wear gang regalia or associate with gang members, his co-accused or witnesses.
Edmonds was not to drink alcohol or take non-prescription illicitdrugs.
Tanirau, Matthews and Tiori were represented by duty solicitor Frank Minehan.
The four appeared individually before Justice of the Peace Peter Debney, who stressed to each the seriousness of the charges they faced.
As Matthews, the third to appear, was led from the dock he raised his hand with one finger extended in a gang salute - accompanied by a loud call.
Mr Debney warned the court that if there were any further interruptions, he would clear the courtroom.
The public gallery was well populated with family members and supporters of the accused, and others who seemed connected to the alleged victims.
