A Palmerston North Black Power gang member has been charged with attempted murder, after a police car chase in the town on Friday.
Police chased a stolen ute containing two male gang members and a woman before a blocking manoeuvre was used to force it off the road.
One of the occupants, a 32-year-old man, appeared in Palmerston District Court yesterday charged with attempted murder, using a firearm in commission of a crime and participating in a criminal gang.
Police said the charges stemmed from a gang-related shooting in Palmerston North on February 5.
He was also faced charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, receiving a stolen vehicle, possession of cannabis, reckless driving and failing to stop for police.
The other male occupant of the car faced a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to an incident on March 9 in Palmerston North.
He was also charged with unlawful possession of a sawn off shotgun.
The woman was released without charge.
