Financial boost for war veterans

The Government has introduced a law to allow war veterans to take up paid employment without losing their full entitlement to a pension.

Veterans of retirement age and those who have a medical condition preventing them from doing permanent work are entitled to the pension. But those who are under retirement age at present lose the whole of their pension immediately if they take up any paid work and in some cases lose it if they do voluntary work.
