An elderly pedestrian has been taken to Middlemore Hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Manurewa.

Police are currently in attendance at the incident which took place at the intersection of Great South Rd and Halver Rd.

The pedestrian has been taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.

There are currently detours in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
