Drowned man named

Police have named Melbourne Storm football manager Michael Moore as the man who drowned at Auckland's waterfront in the early hours of this morning.

The 35-year-old's body was recovered from Auckland's Waitemata Harbour shortly before dawn today two hours after he was seen to fall into the water while attending celebrations at the America's Cup Village.

Auckland police believe he probably hit his head on a pontoon and was either unconscious or dead when he hit the water.

Mr Moore was in Auckland for the Warriors and Melbourne Storm rugby league match which the Warriors won 14-6.
