Dan Carter's underwear raises $1000 for charity

All Black Dan Carter's underwear raised almost as much as a signed All Black jersey when a bidder at a charity auction paid over $1000 for it.

The signed underwear went for $1050 at the Canterbury Charity Hospital dinner and auction at the weekend, the Press reported today.

The fundraiser was in aid of the $1.1 million conversion of an 80-year-old Harewood Road villa into a modern-day hospital.

Other items sold at the Saturday auction included a 1997 signed All Blacks jersey which went for $2000.

Fundraising manager Jane Bolton said the event raised more than $40,000 towards the costs of the new hospital.

It was not known if the underwear was boxers or briefs.
