The Conservative Party is targeting Winston Peters' voters, in its drive for seats in Parliament.
The election is still a year off but there's speculation National is looking at the Conservatives as a potential partner.
Party leader Colin Craig told TVNZ's Q&A programme he's chasing voters who might otherwise have thought about New Zealand First.
"They will find the social conservative nature of our party quite comforting.
"We're fiscal conservatives, a lot of our support comes from the business community.''
The Conservative Party also announced its candidate for the upcoming Christchurch East by-election today.
Leighton Baker - who stood in the electorate during the last general election - will stand for the position again.
Mr Craig says Mr Baker will certainly add some life to the campaign.
