Wairarapa United is promoting a coaching scheme which should improve the quality of football in this region but not necessarily their own playing resources.
Under the stewardship of experienced Central League midfielder Miroslav Tvaroh, they will offer extra coaching opportunities for players in the under-15 and under-17 age groups.
Thefirst sessions are planned for Howard Booth Park in Carterton on Monday, June 25, and Wednesday, June 27, starting at 4pm and, providing interest is strong enough, they will continue through the remainder of the winter season.
Tvaroh said the timing of the sessions would be arranged so players would still be able to train for their college teams as well.
And he was adamant there would be no compulsion on them playing for Wairarapa United either this season, or any other season.
"No way is the club looking to entice players to join them. The whole objective is to simply help the district's younger talent to increase their knowledge of the game."
Tvaroh said the main emphasis at the first sessions would be on ascertaining the fitness and skill levels of the attendees so training programmes could be formulated to improve their performance.
