The new air shuttle service, Air2there, will offer flights for as low as $28.
According to Air2there boss Murray Cole, flights out of Masterton are expected to start early next month.
The schedule will mean seven-day-a-week flights to Wellington, Blenheim and Paraparaumu and Monday to Thursday flights to Palmerston North.
Standard single section tickets will cost $56 a sector or $46 if you book a Super 10 Multi-pass, Mr Cole said. There will also be $28 a sector seats for regular commuters on a 20 Sector Multi-pass or on select flights throughout the day. Multiple sectors will cost a multiple of $56 or $46.
The Air2there special launch "flight" has on offer 1000 single-sector seats at $28 each. These special seats are available if paid for by December 10, he said
Air2there has no add-ons: No insurance surcharge, no fuel surcharge, GST is included and there is no waiting around in air terminals.
"Our service is flexible, easy and affordable, with frequent departures and a walk-on service available at relatively short notice. The service we provide enables people to fly to towns that were previously difficult to access," Mr Cole said
He said Air2there will focus on the central North Island and Cook Strait and provide connections with domestic main trunk and international services, particularly transtasman (inbound and outbound) flights via the region's two international airports, Wellington and Palmerston North.
The service uses its own Prop Jet Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, fitted with executive-class seating.
Travelling Air2there between Paraparaumu and Wellington or Masterton and Wellington involves one section; Palmerston North to Wellington or Masterton to Blenheim, two sections; and Blenheim to Palmerston North three sections.
Shuttle coaches can provide personal service to and from your home or office to the terminal on the Kapiti Coast and in Marlborough, and the company has car storage at both Paraparaumu and Palmerston North airports.
Air2there will also offer a charter service using extra 10-seater and six-seater aircraft.
The service is the first stage of plans for further direct link regional aviation services, Mr Cole said.
He said the service was a response to commuter access problems that have dogged the Kapiti coast and Wairarapa for years.
"There has been talk about Transmission Gully as an alternative western Wellington access for 50 years.
"The road to Wairarapa, over the Rimutaka Hill, for what I would imagine to be 88 years, has received 'touch ups', 'corner upgrades' and so on."
Mr Cole, who was involved in Paraparaumu Airport and Palmerston North International Airport, said Paraparaumu, Palmerston North, Masterton, Marlborough, and Wellington all have all-weather and under-utilised airports.
