Carlos Spencer engaged to long-time girlfriend

Carlos Spencer may have had mixed fortunes in this year's rugby World Cup but he's having a happier time off the field.

Spencer has become engaged to his long-time girlfriend Jodene Williams, a Hastings-raised woman who now lives with Spencer in Auckland.

Ms Williams, who works as a sales representative for New Zealand Wines and Spirits, met Spencer at an All Blacks after-match function in Hamilton in 1998. The pair became a couple soon afterwards.

Spencer popped the question in May, after preparing an elaborate three-course meal for her.

Williams' Hastings grandfather, Archie Williams, said he expected the wedding to be held in Hastings. No date has been set.
