Multiple police cars were involved in a chase for a stolen car that ended at the side of a paddock.
The vehicle, a Subaru station wagon, was stolen from Maraetai in eastern Auckland.
Two police cars were directly involved in the chase, which culminated in an arrest on North Rd, 6km east of Clevedon.
However, photos from the scene of the arrest showed about eight police cars on the road.
A further two cars had been used to deploy road spikes, a police spokesman said.
The pursuit was abandoned after it was believed a tyre had burst on the stolen vehicle, he said.
"Both right wheels had been damaged and the vehicle had been spiked on North Rd," he said. "The vehicle came to a stop and three occupants decamped and the driver was arrested."
The driver was arrested on charges of failing to stop and for driving a stolen vehicle.
