A Tauranga burglar who was nabbed after his DNA was found on a cigarette butt has been jailed.
Quayde Richard Hulbert, 20, was sentenced to 11 months jail when he appeared in Tauranga District Court today.
Hulbert pleaded guilty to stealing more then $10,000 worth of tools and parts from a Mount Maunganui car yard.
Hulbert initially claimed to have no knowledge of the three break-ins at the yard but confessed to the charges after his DNA was found by ESR scientists contracted by police.
A cigarette butt was found inside the premises after the first burglary.
