A 13-year-old Invercargill boy burned in a go-karting accident was seriously ill in Middlemore Hospital last night.
Roger McKernan suffered third-degree burns, mostly to his face and arms, after the go-kart he was driving flipped on to its side and burst into flames at an Invercargill track on Saturday night.
A paramedic said Roger was strapped in and could not get out.
Occupational Safety and Health has closed Kart City until the cause of the accident is known and preventive measures taken.
