Body found on Titahi Bay beach

A man's body was found washed up on a beach in Porirua north of Wellington this morning.

The body was found by a passerby on Titahi Bay beach about 7am.

Porirua police Sergeant Martin Tunley said the man was Caucasian and in his 50s.

The body had been identified but police were not releasing details yet.

Mr Tunley said the death did not appear suspicious and the man had not been reported missing.

A post-mortem would be done.
