Three current New Zealand representatives competed at the Masterton Axemen's Club's summer carnival last Saturday and Sunday.
Shane Jordan of Taupo, Stephen Knowles of Napier and Aiden Strother, who is a member of both the Otaki and Masterton clubs, faced stern opposition from competitiors from as far afield as the United
States.
Local axemen, Warren Robinson and the father-and-son combination of Dave and Neil Bashford also featured prominently with Dave Bashford scoring a popular victory in the jigger competition on Saturday and also taking out the Kingi Peneha Memorial underhand chop.
The graded Hunting and Fishing standing chop championship completed a busy programme with national rep Jordan taking the honours from Otaki's Patrick Barrett.
