Queues are stretching back for kilometres after a multi-vehicle crash on Auckland's Northwestern Motorway, and motorists are being told to expect delays.
The crash has now been cleared but was earlier blocking two out of five of the eastbound lanes near the Newton Rd off-ramp.
Traffic is stretching from theNewtown Rd off-ramp all the way back to Rosebank Rd.
It comes as Auckland prepares for another wet and windy day, with MetService warning of squally thunderstorms and heavy rain for the city.
In preparation, the movable barrier on the Harbour Bridge will remain in the 4/4 lane configuration, in case the bridge needs to shut at a moment's notice.

The severe thunderstorm watch will last until 6pm tonight, and MetService says Auckland can expect heavy showers, hail and gale-force winds in exposed places.
Meanwhile, a train derailment yesterday is continuing to cause delays for rail commuters.
Eastern Lines between Britomart and Ōtāhuhu are cancelled and lines will run express from Ōtāhuhu to Britomart via Newmarket.
