SYDNEY - The ABC's news director John Cameron has arrived in Singapore to meet South Asia correspondent Peter Lloyd following the journalist's arrest last week on drugs charges.
"Yes, I can confirm that," a spokeswoman for the ABC said when asked if Mr Cameron was in Singapore.
But
she could not say whether Mr Cameron had already met Lloyd or at what time he was likely to meet him.
More details would be available later today, the spokeswoman said.
Lloyd, 41, is charged with trafficking about one gram of methamphetamine to a Singaporean for $S100 Singapore ($97) at a hotel early this month.
He also faces a second charge of being in possession of about one gram of the variety of methamphetamine known as ice.
He is currently being held on remand in Singapore's Changi prison.
If convicted, he faces up to 20 years' jail and between five to 15 lashes with a cane.
Lloyd's family are reported to be trying to raise $45,000 bail to secure his release from Changi.
His next court appearance is on Friday.
