Thoroughbred horse trainer Gary Ritchie, of Pukekohe, was found dead yesterday.
The 54-year-old Ritchie was a brother of prominent Takanini trainer Frank Ritchie.
Gary Ritchie rode over jumps and on becoming a trainer won the Grand National with Boomalong in the late 1980s and was also the trainer of Injustice, the top 2-year-old of his year.
Gary Ritchie's daughter Julia was a successful apprentice jockey in the early 1990s.
