KEY POINTS:
A judge in Washington, D.C. has ruled that US $54 million ($70 million) is too steep a price to pay for a pair of pants misplaced at the dry cleaners.
The suit was brought after a Washington administrative judge brought his suit to Custom Cleaners for a minor alteration.
When it was misplaced, he claimed that the shop's satisfaction guarantee was misleading.
However the judge hearing the case ruled that the plaintiff interpreted the 'Satisfaction Guaranteed' sign displayed in the shop unreasonably.
The plaintiff was also ordered to pay court costs and the legal fees of the dry cleaner owners.
