The issue of what exactly causes someone to be raped is, somehow, still up for debate on social media in 2018.
Fortunately, to clear everything up (hopefully once and for all), a handy pie chart has gone viral, explaining exactly what causes rape.
The chart was first shared by Ava DuVernay, director of Selma and A Wrinkle in Time. She posted it to Twitter.
The chart is completely light blue. The key to the chart lists the different excuses often given to explain why a rape happened. These include "short skirt", "flirty behaviour", "walking alone at night" and other things we've all heard before.
The light blue, 100 per cent of the pie chart, represents "rapists", the only cause of rape.
The message is clear: Short skirts don't cause rape. Flirty behaviour does not cause rape. Walking alone doesn't cause rape. Drinking does not cause rape.
Rapists cause rape.
The pie chart quickly went viral for its accuracy.
