Last season's obsession with the Birkenstock Arizona slip-on sandal managed to filter its way into the high street stores. Knock-offs of the "ugly" sandal, once the domain of hippie backpackers, are still lingering in this season's sandal offerings, albeit updated in more fashion-forward colours and fabrications.

The slip-on is still prevalent, with easy-to-wear pool slides now a style deemed acceptable to wear to work with a pair of tailored pants.
Clean, minimalist slides provide an easy segue from the workplace dress code to weekend dressing. The black and gold band option from Mi Piaci (#12), for example, hits the right note with a sleek sandal that works just as well with a pair of relaxed jeans as it does with a dress pant and blazer for a chic alternative to after-five dressing.
Just as the slip-on sandal has been a staple of Edun's 2016 resort collection, it offers up plenty of inspiration for a nonchalant approach to dressing for the new season that's undeniably cool and offbeat.
If you think you're a little too old for that, don't fret. The comfort factor alone should be appealing enough, particularly in a season where there's a glut of vertiginous platform heels and wedges still riding that tired 70s train.
