When it comes to eyewear this season, confident colour and bold patterns make an impact.

Eye health is one of those things in life that gradually shifts its way to the top of the priority list as we get older. Recent figures show that about 2.5 billion people worldwide live with poor, uncorrected vision, with 80 per cent of those problems being preventable.

Having proper eye tests done and visiting your local optometrist is an ideal place to start. For those who wear or need glasses, the options can be endless. However, if you're brave enough to be adventurous, the range of new-season frames available encourage you to be bold. While retro-shaped glasses continue to provide plenty of inspiration with eyewear (think cat's-eye frames and wayfarer shapes), the quest to revive and updates these styles continues, with some refreshing results.

Parisian brand See Concept has launched its new collection locally, made up of bright pop colours including a pink option (#8), and a coloured tortoiseshell (#7) that works well for any age group.

The slick Bevel frames from Michael Holmes Premium Eyewear are a versatile option, working with both work and weekend wardrobes. Available in a range of colours and styles, the New York-designed eyewear brand is handmade in Japan and the perfect example of eyewear luxury.

Personalities can thrive with bold eyewear choices, and although being a less conventional option, these quality selections will no doubt stand the test of time.
