Chevy Chase claims he was kicked to the ground in a New York road rage attack after he chased down a driver to confront him after he cut him off
The 74-year-old actor says he was driving over the Tappan Zee Bridge in Westchester on February 9 when the driver of a black pickup truck cut him off, TMZ reports.
Chase told police he thought the pickup had scraped his own vehicle so he flashed his lights and followed the driver until he pulled over.
According to the Daily Mail, the National Lampoon's star realized there was no damage to either vehicle, but claims he still approached the other driver to speak about his reckless driving.
Chevy claims one of the three passengers in the pickup then flipped him off.
"If I were a lot younger I'd bust your nose," Chevy said he told the passenger.
One of the passengers then got out of the car and allegedly kicked the Saturday Night Live icon so hard he fell to the ground.
The driver of the pickup told police that Chevy actually threw the first punch and his passenger was trying to stop him with his foot.
Police cited the passenger for second degree harassment with physical contact.
Authorities also spoke to a third person, not involved with either Chevy or the pickup driver, who had pulled over because he didn't want to see an old man "get his a** stomped".
