A new gameshow asks contestants to cut wires on a bomb.
Boom!, which is airing on the Fox network, is described as "family entertainment with the thrill and intensity of a blockbuster action movie".
In it, teams of three answer quiz questions then cut coloured wires on a bomb correspondingto what they think is the correct answer.
If they get it wrong, the bomb explodes, showering teams in "goop bombs" containing anything from pizza sauce to gravy and slime.
"After a tense countdown, the slime-bombs detonate, showering the players - and portions of the audience - with mystery goop that could be anything from guacamole to mashed potatoes, forcing the players out of the game."
"The clock ticking, the cutters in your hand, and all that stands between you and half a million dollars is the single cut of a wire," declares the show's host in a YouTube trailer.
Winning teams share in a prize pool of up to $500,000, with the bomb showering them with money if they get enough of the questions right.
