Heather Locklear has been placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after reportedly beating up her boyfriend.
Locklear, 57, was taken to a hospital after her therapist determined that she was having a mental breakdown, TMZ reports.
The Hollywood star was at her home, and a third party called 911 forher before she was taken to hospital, the New York Post reports.
Locklear's representative did not immediately return a request for comment. There have been conflicting reports about whether her boyfriend, former American Motorcycle Association motocross racer Chris Heisser, was actually there at the time.
A spokesman for Ventura County Sheriff's Department told Page Six: "Deputies responded to a medical call at Ms. Locklear's residence yesterday afternoon. There was no crime, and we have no additional information to release".
The former Melrose Place actor was hospitalised for a psychiatric evaluation in June after she threatened to shoot herself because she thought Heisser was cheating on her.
She was released three days later and was arrested four days afterwards for battery of an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician).
Locklear was hospitalised again later that month after a reported overdose at her home, and she completed a stint in a rehab facility.
It has been a dramatic year for Locklear, whose fall from grace has been much-publicised.

In June, she was taken to hospital after being accused of "choking" her 85-year-old mother and threatening to kill herself, the Daily Mail reports, and was described as "suicidal" and "violent".
She was also arrested for driving under the influence after she crashed her car on her Los Angeles property.
In February, Locklear was charged with domestic violence and battery of a police officer.
The Blast reported that Locklear "kicked and hit three deputies" as they were putting her into a police car "and she remained 'agitated and extremely uncooperative".
