You go away for a couple of weeks and what happens? I come back to swirling rumours of a relationship between New Zealand's hottest mama, Robyn Malcolm, and the thinking woman's All Black Anton Oliver.
Now, I've got to the stage where I don't believe anything I read
about people's relationships. I've heard too many outrageous stories about people, myself included, that are the product of some febrile individual's lurid imagination to take anything I hear or read seriously.
But if it is true, more power to them. Both bright, successful and much more than All Black and actress. There's the age difference, of course, but throughout the centuries, an age difference has never stood in the way of a meeting of hearts and minds - and indeed bodies.
When we went to Ireland for the new millennium, I came home to find three of my friends had hooked up with (much) younger men.
Seven years on, one couple is happily married, another would still be together were it not for my friend's untimely death and one broke up. As Meatloaf would say, two out of three ain't bad.
Sexy, confident, intelligent people are always going to be attracted to one another, so if the rumours are true, then I shan't be at all surprised.
