KEY POINTS:
This week's New Idea reveals that Katie Holmes has finally had enough of her control-freak husband Tom Cruise and is about to overhaul his outdated image.
Sick of playing the obedient wife to the mega-star, Katie has decided he has to lose his woollen cardigans, jumpers and stuffy
three-piece suits or else.
Apparently, Katie first tried to deal with their age gap by dressing older, but thanks to her new best friend, the ever-stylish Victoria Beckham, she ditched her twin-set-and-pearls look for a "younger, funkier look and chic new haircut". And now she thinks Tom needs a makeover too.
What Tom really needs, however, is a lesson in dance moves, judging from the accompanying picture of him and Katie getting down and dirty on the dance floor.
Tom is snapped gyrating behind Katie in an unflattering, gormless way (with his shirt soaked in sweat) as she strikes a playful pose in a revealing, red evening dress.
But not only does Katie want to reinvent Tom's wardrobe, she's also resorted to teasing him.
A friend is reported as saying Katie told Tom that Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig were stealing his roles because they were buffer and tougher looking. As a result, Tom was driven to doing sit-ups and push-ups until he nearly passed out.
In other headline-grabbing news, Kate Middleton has left a charity dragonboat racing team after it was revealed the team were led by a woman involved in the sex industry and that there were plans for the girls to pose nude for a charity calendar. Not a good look for a possible future Queen of England.
Woman's Day has photographic proof that Catherine Zeta-Jones is addicted to plastic surgery.
The 37-year-old actress is apparently having a crisis about her looks as she approaches 40.
A 2007 photo of the star reveals her looking somewhat bustier than a 1999 photo - undeniable proof she has had breast augmentation.
And another before-and-after photo display shows the star has undergone a botox brow lift, eye lift, eye filler, nose job, fillers for age lines around the mouth and gummy smile - whatever that means.
Despite constantly topping the polls as the world's sexiest woman, Catherine confesses she doesn't think she's beautiful.
"Whenever I hear that my character is supposed to be beautiful and glam I think, 'Oh God, that means two-and-a-half hours in make-up to make me look the part'," she says.
But Catherine isn't all fake. Apparently she swears by one natural remedy - mashed strawberries as a teeth whitener. But perhaps her most unusual surgery is a gum lift. Exactly what a gum lift is and what it achieves are not explored in the article.
Her 62-year-old husband, Michael Douglas, has also gone under the knife.
The article says he was "spotted with two bleeding scars".
And last but not least, the New Zealand Woman's Weekly 75th anniversary special introduces readers to the "75 NZ Women We Love".
Topping the list is Topp Twin Jools Topp, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year but has come out fighting fit and looking fabulous.
Keisha Castle-Hughes comes in at number 2, followed by Adine Wilson, April Ieremia, Trelise Cooper, Suzanne Paul, Helen Clark, Maggie Barry, Lucy Lawless and Bernice Mene.
April Ieremia says she has watched the magazine change over the years but one thing has remained constant. "The Weekly has depth. You always know what you're getting with the Weekly, which makes it the staple diet of many New Zealand women like me."
