Denzel Washington will star in a remake of the classic 1970s hostage drama The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3, entertainment industry reports say. The Oscar-winning star of Training Day would play the role of Lieutenant Zachary 'Z' Garber that was played by Walter Matthau in the original1974 film, Daily Variety reported.
The film centres around the hijacking of a New York subway train.
The remake is being made by veteran Tony Scott, who has worked with Washington on several films including the recent Deja Vu and Crimson Tide.
