Bristol Palin, the eldest daughter of former Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and famed abstinence advocate, is pregnant for the second time, less than a month after calling off her marriage to Marine veteran Dakota Meyer.
In a post on her blog, Bristol said that thenews has been a "huge disappointment" to her family and friends, but says she does not want "any lectures" or sympathy.
"Honestly, I've been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one," she wrote. "At the end of the day there's nothing I can't do with God by my side, and I know I am fully capable of handling anything that is put in front of me with dignity and grace."
Single Bristol did not say who the father of the child is in her statement. She had been in a relationship with 26-year-old Marine veteran Dakota Meyer, who she met last year while filming a reality show with her mother.
But just days before their Memorial Day weekend ceremony last month, Sarah Palin announced that the nuptials had been canceled.
Bristol Palin caused scandal for her mother's campaign in 2008, when it was revealed that the then 18-year-old had become pregnant out of wedlock with her then-boyfriend Levi Johnston.
After the shocking revelation, the two teens announced that they were going to get married and raise the child together.
Their son Tripp was born in December 2008 - just a month after John McCain and Sarah Palin's bid at the White House failed.
Bristol and Levi decided the following March to call off their engagement, starting a months long custody dispute over Tripp.
The couple briefly got back together in July 2010, but ended the engagement a second time just three weeks later.
Since then, Bristol has competed on Dancing with the Stars and appeared on other reality shows with her mother, including Amazing America - the show where she met her latest fiancé, Meyer.
When the wedding was cancelled last month, rumors speculated that Meyer had hid a previous marriage to another woman, but Bristol shot down those reports in a statement to People.
