The new book promises to reveal the intimate side of ‘one brilliant woman’s story’.
Beyoncé has urged her mother not to “spill too much Mama tea” in her upcoming memoir.
Tina Knowles, 70, revealed today that she would release Matriarch, a book she described as a “chronicleof family love and heartbreak, of loss and perseverance”.
Shortly after the announcement, Beyoncé praised her fashion designer mother on Instagram, saying she “couldn’t be prouder”.
The Single Ladies singer added: “You put your heart into this book. I’m happy for you to share some of the stories that shaped you into who you are. To know is to love you. But please don’t spill too much Mama Tea.”
Spilling the tea is American slang for revealing gossip or new information.

Knowles worked as a stylist for 43-year-old Beyoncé's girl group Destiny’s Child and has also helped the American superstar during her solo career, both in music and fashion.
Matriarch will not be the first time that Knowles has written about her daughter, having penned Destiny’s Style: Bootylicious Fashion, Beauty, and Lifestyle Secrets from Destiny’s Child in 2002.
The book promised to share the group’s secrets on “shopping, sewing and lifestyle”.
But this time around, Knowles’ memoir promises to be more intimate, focusing on “one brilliant woman’s intimate and revealing story”.
Knowles said: “I am calling this book Matriarch, because what inspires me is the wisdom that women pass on to each other, generation to generation – and the inner wisdom we long to uncover in ourselves”.
“So, I have decided to tell my story, because I know what it means to me and my daughters and future generations of women.”
The memoir is due to go on sale next April.
But despite Beyoncé's warning, her fans have been calling for her mother to share as much “tea” as she wants.
One fan wrote: “Nah, Mama Tina, spill as much tea as you’d like!!! Instant bestseller. I’m so here for this. Let me go set up a beyhive book club real quick.”
