You already had one twist with the masked lady, and you didn't know who she was, and then you had that thing with Ignacio being an immigrant, and you didn't know what was going to happen with him, and that's why more and more people tuned in to find out. You found out who the masked woman is if you found out what happened to Ignacio. You know what I mean?
Possibly. What's it like playing The Kid on a sitcom who definitely ain't Greg Brady?
He's her guardian angel. And he's into fashion, but because he's into fashion doesn't make him gay. It hasn't been announced that he's gay. He might not be. We don't know yet. He loves Betty and what she does, and he's got the attitude, you know, but then he's also got this soft side. And I think that's very good because he's so well rounded.
He might not be gay?
He's not this macho, you know, like, Latino boy that's into football and, you know, baseball. He's into fashion and he likes sewing clothes and drawing and making things, like arts and crafts. If someone called Justin gay, Hilda would be the first to step in and say, 'Who said that he is gay? He didn't say he was gay. He's 12 years old. He doesn't know if he's gay'. You know what I mean? Especially [with] a lot of the characters at Mode, the way that they say so much like, how can I say this ... they say some serious things but there's a joke thrown in there. It's so dry. They just say it with a straight face. And everyone that's watching will just laugh, will just be hysterical because they said it so ...
How much is your screen family like your real family?
Oh, my gosh. It's like the same family. Except I don't live with my grandpa and my aunt. We're Latina Italian and we're a very tight family, and we're all up in each other's business. If they're in the kitchen and you're like in the living room or something and they walk in: 'What are you talking about?' 'I'm talking to a friend'. 'What friend?' Like, my mom was on the phone, 'So who were you talking to?' They all just come and visit. It's like a cycle. And if we move out here, they're coming with us, let me tell you.
